Beluga Point 10-minutes south of town, park at the lookout and scan the rock cliffs behind you for the white pelts of Dahl Sheep.

Bird Creek Bird Creek is an excellent silver and good pink salmon fishery an hours drive south of downtown. As you head south out of Anchorage into "The Real Alaska," Bird Creek is the first major salmon river you will come to. In many ways it has all the same charms of fishing Ship Creek in downtown Anchorage like the amazing mud, combat fishing, a small fishable area, and dangerous traffic patterns. What Bird Creek does have over Ship Creek though is a natural setting and a sense of fishing Alaska.

Bird to Gird Pathway Mountains, glaciers, beluga whales, and ocean views are a few of the spectacular sights you can take in on the Firdwood to Indian Pathway. Known to locals as the 'Bird to Gird' this multi-use trail was recently enlarged to include an extra six miles to Indian. The now thirteen-mile pathway follows the Turnagain Arm next to the nationally designated Scenic Seward Highway.

Crow Creek Mine Crow Creek Mine in Girdwood is now a National Historic Site. The first claims at Crow Creek were staked in 1897. Mining operations started thereafter, and the original buildings of 1898, which make up the camp, still stand today. This will be your opportunity to try your hand at gold-panning!
